Gay Pride Event:

Belleville held its first Pride event June 21, 2008. Mayor Mark Eckert, Lynn Clapp, President of the Human Relations Commission spoke, as well as our gay brother, Marcelo Tenorio, the first person to receive political asylum in the U.S. because of sexual orientation. The crowd numbered over 1,000. Pride 09 has formed an executive committee and several working committees to organize an even greater Pride 09 event.
