CAP'S Anti-Poverty Program -12 Priorities: - Living wage jobs for all adults 18 years and over who are able and willing to work:
- Raise the minimum wage at both state and federal level to insure that people who work full time are not living below the poverty line:
- Raise the federal poverty level, as it no longer represents a wage that can adequately support a family:
- Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and inflate the EITC at the state level:
- Provide relevant education and job training programs:
- Establish an affordable national health care system;
- Invest in affordable and accessible housing;
- Guarantee high quality and affordable child care for every child who needs it:
- Develop a national transportation system that insures that everyone has access to affordable and accessible transportation:
- Increase the minimum social security payment to people over 65 and those living with disabilities:
- Work for campaign finance reform and public funding of elections:
- Pay for these programs by developing progressive tax policies and re-directing non-essential, non-personnel parts or the military
